Replacing Robot Vacuum Side Brushes
Side brushes sweep edge and corner debris into the main brush path, and they wear faster than most owners expect. Replacing them is usually a tool-free job.
Quick answer
Replace side brushes when the bristles are bent, splayed, worn short or missing, or when corners stay dirty after a run. Your manual gives the interval; many makers suggest a few months, sooner with pets or edge debris.
Signs of wear
- Bristles bent flat, splayed or worn down.
- Missing bristles or a brush that spins unevenly.
- Corners and edges dirtier than open floor after a clean.
- Hair wrapped tightly around the hub that will not come free.
How often
Intervals vary by model and household. Where a manufacturer states one, it appears in our yearly cost guide, for example a parts-kit listing for the eufy X10 Pro Omni that says every two months. That is a seller listing, not a manufacturer specification, so check your own manual. Homes with pets or lots of hard-floor edge debris may need sooner replacement.
How to replace one
- Turn the robot off and flip it onto a soft surface.
- Pull the old brush straight off its spindle, or undo the screw if your model uses one.
- Clear hair from the spindle.
- Press the new brush on until it clicks.
- Check it spins freely by hand.
Left and right brushes
Some models use different brushes on each side, or colour-code them. Match them to the labels in your manual.
Original vs third-party
Third-party brushes are often cheaper, but we have no verified data on their fit or durability. Check the exact model listed and the maker's warranty terms. See accessories.

Frequently asked questions
Can I clean them instead of replacing?
You can free wrapped hair, but worn or bent bristles need replacing.
Do I replace both at the same time?
Usually, since they wear together. Check your model.
What if my robot has extendable arms?
Some newer models have an extendable side brush. Follow the maker's replacement steps.
