Setup & Mapping
Connecting Your Robot Vacuum to Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi pairing is where many first-time setups stall, usually for a few predictable reasons. Here is a clean run-through; if it still fails, see the Wi-Fi troubleshooting guide.
Quick answer
Use a 2.4GHz network, keep the robot close to the router, put the phone on the same network, and follow the app's pairing prompts. If pairing fails, split a combined 2.4/5GHz network name temporarily.
Before you start
- Charge the robot and place it near the router.
- Install the manufacturer's app and create or sign in to an account.
- Connect your phone to the 2.4GHz network you will use.
- Have the Wi-Fi password ready and check it for typos.
Why 2.4GHz
Most robot vacuums use a 2.4GHz radio, not 5GHz. If your router broadcasts one combined name, the phone may join the 5GHz side and pairing fails. Some routers let you split the bands temporarily. Check your model's specifications, since a few newer models support 5GHz.
The pairing flow
- Open the app and choose Add device.
- Put the robot into pairing mode as the app shows (usually by holding a button).
- Enter the network name and password.
- Wait for the confirmation before moving the robot.
If pairing stalls
Restart the robot, router and app, confirm the password, and check for an app update. The full ordered list is in robot vacuum won't connect to Wi-Fi. If the app cannot see the robot at all, see app not finding the robot.
After pairing
Once connected you can update firmware, then move on to mapping. For data handling, read cloud maps and data privacy.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a guest network?
Some routers isolate guest devices, which can block pairing. Try your main 2.4GHz network first.
Do I need Wi-Fi to use the robot?
Most robots can clean from buttons without it, but app features such as maps and schedules need a connection.
Will changing my router password disconnect it?
Yes. You will need to re-pair it with the new details.
