How to Name and Organize Rooms in the App
Once your home is mapped, naming rooms unlocks the features that make targeted cleaning practical. It takes a few minutes and pays off quickly.
Quick answer
Open the saved map, fix any merged or split rooms first, then rename each room. Room names then work in schedules, room-selective cleans, zones and voice commands.
Why naming matters
Named rooms let you say "clean the kitchen" instead of tapping an unlabeled shape. They also make schedules, no-go zones and voice control easier to manage; see selective room cleaning and voice control.
Steps
- Open the map and check room boundaries.
- Merge rooms the robot split, and split rooms it merged.
- Select each room and choose a name from the list or type your own.
- Save, then confirm the names appear when you start a room clean.
Typical map errors
- An open-plan area divided at an arbitrary line.
- A doorway cut as a room boundary.
- A hallway merged into a bedroom.
Cleaning order and settings
Some apps let you set the order rooms are cleaned in, and different suction or mop levels per room. Availability depends on the model. For scheduling, see setting up a schedule.
If the map changes
A re-map may reset names and settings on some models. Screenshot your room setup first; see mapping setup.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rename rooms later?
Yes. Renaming does not usually affect the map.
Do room names sync with Alexa or Google?
Often, if the integration is enabled. Check your app.
Why can't I split a room?
Some maps limit edits. Try a re-map or check the manual.
