Using Selective Room Cleaning
Selective room cleaning is one of the most useful mapped-navigation features and one of the least used by new owners.
Quick answer
Open the saved map, select the rooms you want, choose a mode and start. It avoids running the whole home for a small job. It needs an accurate map with rooms defined.
When it helps
- A spill in the kitchen or a muddy entryway.
- Guests arriving and only the living areas need attention.
- A room that was just cleaned, so the rest can be done.
- A pet accident area you have already cleaned by hand.
How to start it
- Open the map in the app.
- Tap one or more rooms.
- Choose suction, mop level and passes if offered.
- Start, and confirm the order if the app shows one.
Combine it with settings
A single messy room is a good candidate for higher suction or an extra pass, since you are not spreading battery across the whole home. See cleaning modes.
If room selection fails
Check the rooms are defined and named, and fix merged or split rooms; see room naming and mapping. If the robot cannot reach a room, check closed doors and thresholds.
Voice and routines
Some voice assistants can start a named room clean; see voice control. Where your app supports it, rooms can also be used in schedules; see how to create room-based schedules.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pick rooms in a specific order?
Some apps allow it. Check your app.
Do room cleans work on a second floor?
Only if that floor has its own saved map; see multi-floor mapping.
Why did it skip a room?
A closed door, a no-go zone or a blocked path are common reasons.
